Row House

Roof Plan

The row house we are designing is located in Brooklyn, New York. In which there are many different options for styles of row houses. The attached houses to the site we were provided is referred to as the Beaux-Arts Style. In the photo to the left, you can see the architectural details such as brick façade, symmetry of design, five stories high, bold three-dimensional stone carvings. In my design for the Brooklyn row house, I wanted to combine certain features of different styles. The styles I was combining were Beaux-Arts Style, Queen-Anne Style, and Renaissance Revival Style. There were key aspects of each style that jumped out at me that I wanted to include within my design. Symmetrical façade on each floor the windows and/or doors lining up with each other, brick façade as a generic use of material, L-shaped stoop with an entrance underneath for the first floor, squared basic windows with little detail and transoms or glass doors to bring in natural light.
